January 21, 2022 - Knowles visits Volusia Speedway Park for Sunshine Nationals
Jake Knowles followed the Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series as the Crate Late Model tour headed south to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) for the three-day Sunshine Nationals. In a massive field of 82 cars, Knowles slammed into a hole in his heat, forcing him pitside. Needing to place second or better in his B-Main to make the opening night feature, Jake passed 15 cars but missed a transfer spot by two positions. (Brian McLeod photo | Dirt Scenes)

With the feature moved to Friday afternoon due to rough track conditions, Knowles took a provisional and passed 10 cars to finish 16th.

Later Friday evening, Jake followed up the third-fastest time in his qualifying group with a second-place finish in his heat. A late-rain shower postponed his $2,000-to-win A-Main to Saturday afternoon.

With rain continuing overnight and into Saturday, Jake’s feature was postponed to February 7th and Saturday’s program was cancelled.
